                                                             Portfolio 3: Movies 

This is my third portfolio which is my new interesting experience and lesson in my Pop Culture class. I continue to explore the Pop cultural adventurous trip with a new lesson which is Movies. I discovered the movie lesson also with four main tools which were Read, Think, Seek, and Do. 

First of all, Tyler Perry’s Money Machine is the Read part. I read the Tyler Perry’s Money Machine lecture so that I know more about who Tyler Perry is, how he is so famous, and why Tyler Perry is called money machine, which I did not know about before. In this lecture, I know why Perry's Films are formulaic. Tyler Perry is so successful not only because his films are different from Hollywood movies, but also he is so talented because he is a playwright, actor, and filmmaker. African American actors participate in his films and his messages of family values and personal redemptions speak strongly to those who are not frequent moviegoers. His plots are love, fidelity, religion. After I read Tyler Perry’s Money Machine I know more about him and his films. 

Another part is Seek and Think. In the Seek part, I discovered what genre movies are, such as Action, Drama, Adventure, Comedy, Horror, Epics, and Science Fiction, etc. I also saw and explored a lot of information about each genre and movie example for each genre. The other thing in the Seek part is the movie industry. I know more information about four different kinds of famous movie websites which are Hollywood, Paramount, Warner Bros, and Tyler Perry. It is very helpful to know it because I can learn and know where to find and what information I need from each website. Each website has their own attractive things and different information and a way to show it to everyone. While I was learning about the Seek part, I was also doing the Think part which made this movie's lesson more effective. I have so many aha movements in this Think part. My aha movement is the list of terms lesson because I received a bunch of movie word terms. Some of the movie terms I thought I knew, but they have totally different meanings. It helps me easily understand and find when I look at the information in some movies. The term lesson was more effective and easily remembered because I did the puzzle which I could play and practice at the same time. Puzzle is a good way for me to study these terms. 

The last part is Do. I did two things which were Movie Poster presentation and Movie Review-international film festival. In the Movie Poster presentation, I had to show what my movie was about and also made it attractive to everyone. Knowing the basic information to make a movie poster. Beside the Movie poster, I also watched the international film festival which is The Last Duel. The Last Duel is not only an international film festival, but it also epics historical movies which explored a real event in the past. 

My goal: The next more interesting and attractive Pop culture trip in my fourth portfolio.
