From the beginning to the end of Pop Culture class, I learned a lot of different kinds of things by discovering so many cultures. A lot of information and lessons that I gained from this class . I learned from culture to pop culture, songs, movies, trends, and fads, etc.  

 At the beginning, I learned what the culture is by reading, seeking, thinking, and doing. I read the lecture which discovered what the culture is in the Define American lecture. Through this lecture, I knew there were two different sides from the past until now, which are melting pot and salad bowl. Melting pot where everyone simply is an “ American”. The salad bowl contains a mix of ethnicities that complement one another. By seeking and thinking, I was taught the culture was similar to iceberg because we usually just see the surface of the culture like just see the surface of the iceberg, We have to dive or look under the water so that we can see the whole the iceberg which is like culture. We also should care and know more about internal or deep culture which is hidden below the surface. During the first project in this class, I learned so many cultural things from different countries from my classmate. 

In addition, I continued my pop culture trip. I was taught what pop culture is and the information of the popular star. In what is Pop Culture’s lecture, before we know the definition of Pop culture, we have to break down the term into popular and culture. We know popular means the “ of the people” and culture refers to beliefs, behaviors, and thoughts that influence us everyday. If we combine popular with culture, it will become popular culture which means the fabric of our lives. In this trip, I saw and learned a lot of different kinds of objects and things in different periods. Then I did the star projects. I learned more about the stars and how they became popular stars which is not easy. 

Third, I continued the trip by discovering the movie and song. In the movie, I learned who Tyler Perry is, how he is so famous, and why Tyler Perry is called a money machine. Tyler Perry is so successful not only because his films are different from Hollywood movies, but also he is so talented because he is a playwright, actor, and filmmaker. I also discovered what genre movies are, such as Action, Drama, Adventure, Comedy, Horror, Epics, and Science Fiction, etc. I also saw and explored a lot of information about each genre and movie examples for each genre. I know more information about four different kinds of famous movie websites which are Hollywood, Paramount, Warner Bros, and Tyler Perry. It is very helpful to know it because I can learn and know where to find and what information I need from each website. Each website has their own attractive things and different information and a way to show it to everyone. 

Furthermore, I discovered my own popular things in my country. Not only my country but also the other countries by my classmates' presentations. What pop culture things from each country.  For example, Hailey showed me the traditional fashion(Song, Minh, Qing dynasty) to popular fashion (Street fashion, modern mix with traditional, and Han costume) in her country and how popular it is which I did not know before. My aha moment is when I learned why and how protests always happened in Korea. I learned a lot of cultures which I had not known before. The popular stars, instagrammer in Columbia by Francy presentation.  

I really enjoy being a part of pop culture class. It taught me a lot of things, especially culture and pop culture from different countries. I also really appreciate it because my classmates and teacher taught me a lot of things and gave me a lot of new experiences and funny moments in this class. Even though this class is over, I will keep all of the beautiful memories of this class in my heart. It is a part of my memories which I will never forget.
